How to Use CommentSold’s New Collections Feature with Your Facebook Ads
CommentSold recently updated its collections feature to better integrate with Facebook ads and we‘re the super excited to tell you about it and how it can benefit you!
First, it’s important to understand how collections work inside of CS and where you find them. Located under “Online Store” on the left-hand side and then “Collections” after that — this is how you can build new collections and edit the ones you have currently.

You can also see the “collection” on each specific product page.

The collections help to group products on your site and should be fairly self-explanatory.
Now you understand the collections, we’re going to talk about Facebook ads (and more importantly how to use collections with your ads)
If you’ve run Facebook ads in the past and used a “product catalog” then this will be familiar to you. It’s how we get all that great info on the products automatically such as price, pictures, name, and more!
NOTE: If you’re a client of ours, we’ve already set this up as part of our shopping experience audit!
P.S. If your CommentSold store doesn’t have product catalogs set up and your advertising on Facebook, you should really schedule a call with us!
Ok, so the product catalog is great but the thing is, features were previously limited here. While you could sort by price or name, that was about it. Plus if you do it that way, products go out of stock, aren’t trending anymore, etc…. and so you have to constantly update it on both CS and Facebook and make sure you’re getting updated lists each week from the client with what they want to be featured and more!
It is a total pain in the …
That’s why we are SO HAPPY that CommentSold has introduced “product types” to the catalog feed.
Now, each product will have a product type inside of Facebook based off the corresponding “collection” selected for the product inside CommentSold.
That means when a client adds or removes certain items from the collection, the products featured in certain ads can update dynamically!
If you have a collection around “Trending Now” on your site, inside Facebook, we can only feature items in that “Trending Now” collection and as you make changes to that collection, it will update what products show in the ads automatically! Pretty cool? We know.
It’s all because CommentSold added a “product type” to the feed that pulls from the collection inside CS making it now possible to create product sets from product type filters!

A few IMPORTANT things to note:
- Facebook gets just the first “collection” featured so if you have a product in multiple collections, only the first collection will be communicated to Facebook and so it’s important you have that selected in CommentSold. In the example below the product would appear in the “new arrivals” collection only.

- Make sure you check off to publish to the website AND app.
- Make sure there are a product description and a mobile app description.
- We suggest removing and adding products regularly.
RECAP: You can now use this update to automatically feature certain items and collections dynamically that update your FB ads as the clients make changes to their CS store.
For example, you can write copy around “new arrivals”, “trending now” or “Judy Blue” and then use your product catalog to only pull in the items for those exact collections in CommentSold — and have them update automatically!
This allows you, us, or your ad agency, to run the same ad, with product/collection specific copy, for longer — which gives you more stable results in the auction and gives a better user experience to your current or potential customers!
